New day New EMAIL SCAM

Every day we are being warned of a new Email scam, today we are bring you this one and the latest one hitting Ireland, this seems to come from the IRS complaints service, the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) or the Department of Justice is a legitimate U.S. organization, however this emails do not come from the IRS instead they use an email address similar, or one that is created to look like like IRS.

It contains an attachment and in most cases this attachment will by-pass the antivirus scan, so do not open this attachment if you are not expecting an email from the IRS service.

This type of scam started some years ago and every year the system used by scammers changes .

In some cases the perpetrators use a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers.

The IRS and the DOJ advise “Recipients of questionable e-mails claiming to come from” either agency should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the e-mails. Instead, they should forward the e-mails to phishing@irs.gov or file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
